Krithi was in existence about 250 years ago. Krithis were composed by Muthu Thandavar who was a Nadhaswara Vidwan. Marimuthu Pillai also composed many Krithis those days. Arunachala Kavirayar composed 'Rama Natakam' which consists of several Krithis. Krithi is denoted as 'க்' or Ka.
